Better-Than-Bank Security

When we refer to bank-level security we are referring to the security measures and protocols used by banks and financial institutions to protect sensitive financial data and transactions from unauthorized access, theft, and fraud.

These measures can include a combination of physical security, such as secure facilities and access controls, as well as digital security measures, such as encryption, firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and multi-factor authentication.

Bank-level security is also characterized by the use of robust security technologies and strict security policies. These security measures are designed to protect against various types of threats, including cyber attacks, social engineering, and insider threats.

It is important to note that while bank-level security is considered to be very robust, it is not a guarantee of complete security against all types of attacks with new technologies and attack methods emerging all the time.

While traditional bank-level security models aim to protect customer data, they still rely on storing user credentials on the bank's systems. This leaves the door open for potential breaches by malicious insiders or rogue employees. To truly safeguard customer data, a more robust approach is needed - one that utilizes encryption and secure key management to ensure that customer data is only accessible by the customers themselves.

LifeCloud addresses the challenge of zero-trust security by implementing a unique, innovative approach to user authentication and data encryption. Upon creating an account on the system, users are prompted to create a secret passphrase known as the user's LifeCloud Secret. This passphrase serves as the key for encrypting their data and is not stored on any servers, ensuring that it is accessible only by the user. Not only does this eliminate the risk of unauthorized access to the user's data by LifeCloud employees or outside parties, but it also provides an added layer of security in the event of a data breach. Even if the LifeCloud data were stolen, the data would remain inaccessible as the encryption key is not stored on any servers.

The LifeCloud secret can be anything the user sets but it's intended to be a long phrase the user can remember like a favorite quote or saying. For example, the secret could be "my favorite movie of all-time is top gun" and the hint could be "fav movie." Punctuation and capitalization is ignored because the emphasis is on length and not remembering if there is a comma missing or not.

Additionally, if a user forgets their secret then other members of their LifeCloud can let them back in easily enough. That's because another user would have logged in to the same LifeCloud using their own secret thereby unlocking the LifeCloud and enabling the system to let the person that reset their secret back in.
